Yuba Sutter Arts & Culture is ready to get back into the swing of things with a new season of opening receptions for incoming guest artists at the Art Box Art Gallery in the Sutter Theater Center for the Arts. Renowned nature photographer, Sue Graue, will kick things off on Friday, September 6 from 5 – 7pm in the Gallery at 754 Plumas Street in Yuba City. She will be joined by our other anchor artists as well. The free event includes thought provoking art, interesting people, great conversation, and free appetizers and drinks. The artists will talk about their work and what inspires them to create.
Sue’s photographs feature the nature of Northern California, the Sacramento Valley and bordering forests, plein air style. Often photographing from her car, she has crisscrossed the region, north, south, east, and west, seeking the challenge in this style of photography that promotes and ultimately demands immersion into the experience and the natural world.
“From a puffy white clouded sky to a pollen-laden honeybee, we have much to see, every day,” says Sue.
For many years, Sue has been chosen as a participating artist as part of the annual PBS KVIE Art Auction. This is a curated show, and the competition is fierce. Sue’s photographs help raise hundreds of dollars for the event. Although best known for her nature photography, Sue is also a contract photographer. She approaches business photography, product photography, family and individual portraits with the same technical skills and professionalism as her nature photography.
The Art Box is located inside the Sutter Theater Center for the Arts and is also home to several Anchor Artists. See original works of art created by metal sculpture artist, Dude Green, indigenous jewelry and beadwork artist, Jesse Harris, photographer, Kyoko Apperson, and ceramist Drew Sallee. Your purchase of a work of original art helps support the artists as well as Yuba Sutter Arts & Culture.
