The Veridian String Quartet is pleased to announce the start of its 2019-2020 concert season and its tenth year of bringing high quality classical and classically inspired music to Yuba-Sutter. The Veridian String Quartet is a professional ensemble created to bring together the high-level musicians that perform in the region with the aim of strengthening local cultural life.
Popcorn Pops: Family Fun in Spirited Costume
The Veridian String Quartet is proud to be collaborating with other local arts and culture organizations in addition to YSA. The second concert of the season, sponsored by the Friends of the Yuba County Library, is called “Popcorn Pops: Family Fun in Spirited Costume” and will be held at 4pm on October 26th at the Library in Marysville. The program will be repeated on October 27th at the Sutter County Library in Yuba City sponsored by The Friends of the Sutter County Library.
Rock this Way: Our Annual Rock Out on Covers
On January 26th, Veridian will present its always popular “Rock this Way: Our Annual Rock Out on Covers” at Yuba Sutter Arts.
String Jam 63: Jazz for Harp and String Quartet
March 1st, the Quartet will present “String Jam 63: Jazz for Harp and String Quartet,” a unique experience of String Quartet and Harp in original compositions and old favorites at the Sutter Museum.
Soar into Spring: With the Classics
The final concert of the season will be presented at the Sutter Theater on May 3rd– “Soar into Spring: With the Classics” – along with a performance of the winning entry from the annual composition competition.
The musicians for this season include Helen Graham on violin. Helen is President of the Yuba Sutter Youth Symphony Board of Directors and serves on the Veridian Symphony Orchestra Board. Rebekah Hood-Sava, cellist, has performed with orchestras throughout the country and currently teaches at Yuba College and Marysville Charter Academy for the Arts. Randy Fisher, Violin, has played in symphonies and quartets across the county and internationally. Kate Capra on viola is the newest member of the Veridian String Quartet and plays in a variety of ensembles as well as teaching young musicians.
