Joyous Music
Dr. Ayke Agus

Dr. Ayke Agus

JOYOUS MUSIC, a special tribute concert and fundraiser, will be led by Dr. Ayke Agus, an Indonesian classical violinist and pianist, known primarily through her longtime collaboration with “God’s Fiddler” Jascha Heifetz.

The concert will benefit the Sutter Performing Arts Association (SPAA) to renovate the lobby of the historic Sutter Theater and will honor a community’s promise to remember the 1976 Yuba City High School concert choir with a performing arts venue for everyone. One way to comfort is to honor the memory of those who passed and to persist with love and joy. Joyous music breaks through all boundaries.

“Their sweet harmony passed too quickly, like a white gull against the shocking blue. But here, the memory of those who fashioned our brightest joys and deepest loss shall persevere.” — Dean Estabrook Talented vocalists will be conducted by Dean Estabrook, the 1976 Yuba City High School Choir Director whose young wife, also a choir director, and 28 young singers were killed in the crash. Another 24 were injured. Adrianne Estabrook will conduct our accomplished instrumentalists.

As part of the lobby redesign, SPAA is committed to including design elements that will remember and honor the 1976 Yuba City High School concert choir.
