Yuba Sutter Arts & Culture is always looking for ways to introduce new as well as established artists to the broader community in which we all live. The guest artists whose work will be on display in the Gallery and throughout the theater lobby will include Ash Arroyo, a queer Mexican artist who has been featured in several local art shows and was part of an art mentorship program through Yuba Sutter Arts & Culture. They use digital art programs, sharpies, and acrylic paint to create a variety of art inspired by fantasy novels and 1990s animation. Carob Bradlyn has been making art since childhood and ceramics since high school. She currently teaches ceramics at Yuba City High School and is currently experimenting with new glazes, clays and forms as well as mixed media. Emily Cordi is a Marysville Charter Academy for the Arts alumni and loves to create from recycled and foraged materials. She is inspired by the wildlife, nature, agriculture, and countryside of the Sutter Buttes near her family’s winery. Her current works include grapevine wreaths, recycled wine cork Christmas trees, wine bottle lanterns and hand painted reclaimed wood.
Ceramist Amy Davis has been creating with clay for over 20 years. She loves making functional ware for daily use. Amy experiments with glazes and color which keeps her searching for new and beautiful surfaces for her work. Amy will be leading the new Ceramics for Veterans program beginning in January. Speaking of Veterans, Craig Domko served for 23 years in the U.S. Air Force and has lived all around the world, but now resides in Yuba City. Craig’s artistic journey began in 2016 when he received an oil painting kit for Christmas. His art journey evolved from following Bob Ross tutorials on YouTube to creating his own original pieces, exploring various styles, techniques, and mediums. Craig’s story is a testament to the power of perseverance and the joy of discovering one’s creative potential.
Vern Hill is a Navy Veteran who when discharged in 1954 enrolled at Yuba College where he took two art classes. He went on to become a State Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor. His renewed interest in painting came as a challenge from daughter Julie, who while living in Costa Rica invited her parents to visit and for “Dad to come paint in Acrylic with me.” That was 2011 and he hasn’t stopped painting since. Jeanette Warner is a Yuba City native and has been painting for over 22 years. She likes to experiment with new styles and mediums and loves whimsy and fantasy and is especially drawn to colorful things. Her irresistible paintings will bring joy and happiness to all.
The Art Box Gallery is also home to several Anchor Artists.
