About Yuba-Sutter Arts & Culture

Yuba Sutter Arts & Culture is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has been serving this region since 1981. We are the arts agency officially designated by Yuba and Sutter Counties as the local partner of the California Arts Council.

Our Vision

The vision of Yuba Sutter Arts & Culture is for our region to experience art every day and to recognize the arts in the everyday.

Our Mission

Our mission is to expand artistic awareness of and engagement in the arts, to encourage local communities to reach their full potential by developing arts programs that serve their needs, and to provide access to the arts in rural and under-served areas throughout Yuba and Sutter counties. Yuba Sutter Arts & Culture plays an essential role in our communities to ensure the highest quality and widest variety of arts and cultural activities and presentations are available for our community.

Land Back Statement

We acknowledge that we are settlers on unceded, forcefully taken traditional land of various tribal groups. The Miwok, the Nisenan, and the Maidu peoples have all stewarded this land for generations. We honor with gratitude the land itself and the Native Peoples, past and present. This acknowledgement only becomes meaningful when combined with accountable relationships and informed actions. This is only the FIRST STEP in honoring the land we are on and the original People who stewarded it. The land acknowledgement was never meant to end here: it is an introduction. Anyone can acknowledge whose land you are on and weave in what that means to a specific event you are conducting. This acknowledgement calls on all of us to end Indigenous erasure and engage with Native people in meaningful ways. LAND BACK
