Come out and enjoy this uniquely American musical form when Yuba Sutter Arts & Culture presents the Yuba-Sutter Big Band in concert at the Sutter Theater Center for the Arts. The HOHO HOliday Concert will be held on Saturday, December 7th. The doors and bar open at 6:00pm and the concert starts at 7pm. The address is 754 Plumas Street in Yuba City. Becky is the director of music at Yuba Gardens Intermediate School. She graduated with honors from Cal State Sacramento with bachelor’s degrees in Flute Performance and Music Education. Becky is a recipient of the 2015 CTA Outstanding First Year Teacher Award, the 2019 Outstanding New Educator award for her district and the 2020 winner of the California Music Educator Association’s Middle School Music Specialist Award. In her spare time, Becky enjoys cruising around in her 1965 Mustang. Deanna has a Master of Arts in Education degree and has been teaching for 24 years, currently in the Marysville Joint Unified School District. She has played with the Shasta and Yuba College Concert and Jazz bands as well as the Ukuladies and the CSU Chico Concert and Jazz bands. Deanna is the lead instructor for the new Mariachi Youth Orchestra program. Additional members of the Yuba Sutter Big Band include Paula Clingan, Jim Achilles, Gary Anderson, Scott Stewart, John Proctor, Pablo Rosado, Mike Sarringar, Ray Blackham, Elizabeth Adams, Bill Eslick, David Heredia, Dave Brubaker, Dave Coe and Ron Hake.
Just like in the famous lyrics of the Duke Ellington song, “It don’t mean a thing if it ain’t got that swing!” There is no question that this band knows how to swing so don’t miss out.
