Online Art Auction

Yuba Sutter Arts & Culture (YSAC) misses the monthly art gallery openings both in our home gallery in Marysville and at the Theater Gallery in Yuba City. Our local artists have been traumatized by the lost revenue due to COVID-19. However, in lieu of the customary opening receptions complete with fine wines and appetizers, YSAC is still able to offer some fantastic art pieces created by artists who are all part of the Yuba-Sutter creative economy. It is all made possible by the magic of the internet via online virtual art auctions. And the online gallery is open 24/7!
In response to the continuing pandemic-induced lock down, local artists and Yuba Sutter Arts & Culture have once again come together to create a formidable online collection of original art representing a wide cross section of subject matter. It is the third virtual art auction since April, and the response has been excellent. Nineteen artists have submitted nearly forty original visual art works for the online gallery showing and auction. YSAC partners with the Bidding Owl online auction site to create these opportunities. 80% of the proceeds go directly to the artists with the remainder shared between Bidding Owl and YSAC.
The virtual gallery show and auction are “live” now. To view the online art auction, please go to: https://www.biddingowl.com/Auction/index.cfm?auctionID=21311
Participating artists include watercolorist, Agnes Laurent, western landscape painter and Viet Nam Veteran, Bert Johnson, still life and landscape oil painter, Dorothy Champion, pencil artist, P.D. Thompson, maritime artist and Navy and Army Veteran turned fine artist, Aaron Burks, and Nikki Pearson, ceramist.
The following artists round out the collective: Karen Walker, Sandy Martin, Amber Rainey, Becky Ynostroza, Jack Christie, Joanne McDaniels, Luisa Leger, Martha Oaks, Merisha Wazna, Sue Graue, Will Nakashima, Mary Ann Nation and Bob Nation.
“This series of online virtual art auctions has put a lot of original art in front of a lot of new people that might not necessarily come into an art gallery, let alone attend a gallery opening reception,” said David Read, YSAC Executive Director. We are proud to be able to support our artists in this way to help get their work in front of a wider audience during these challenging times,” he added.
