Ten years ago, Bert Hepster of “Sound Attitude” in Yuba City came together with the Yuba-Sutter Regional Arts Council to create the Friday Night Film Series. The events were a huge success, with people coming from as far as Sacramento and Chico to participate. After numerous requests to reinstate the events, Friday Night Films will soon be up and running again. Hepster explains that anything that can entertain adults and children alike, in a town without a lot of options for family-friendly fun, is definitely a good thing. He says, “You can go anywhere to see mainstream movies. I want to shed light on movies that aren’t usually presented in public – ones that have been neglected, overlooked, and misunderstood.”

Schedule

August 10, 2012 - Coming Attractions, Cartoons, & Short Subject Theatre
August 17, 2012 – “Forbidden Zone” - a 1982 musical comedy film that was written, produced, and directed by Richard Elfman

On Stage at the Lee Burrows Arts Center: Idle Fret

Friday, January 11, 2013 at 8pm
Lee Burrows Arts Center, 630 E Street, Marysville

IDLE FRET is On Stage at the Lee Burrows Center on Friday, January 11, 2013 at 8pm.

Idle Fret was established in 2010 by James Achilles as an outlet for his love of composing and performing a wide variety of jazz styles. Taking advantage of some local connections with gifted musicians, James assembled the band’s current line-up, which features a cool acoustic blend of sax, flute, and classical guitar. The group has received great reviews for its initial performances.

Members:
James Achilles (Guitar, t-bone)
Robert Achilles (Keys)
David Coe (Reeds)
Judy Coe (Flute)
David Bole (Bass)
Ken Horton (Drums)

Endorsements:
“Idle Fret was a big hit at the Downtown Lincoln Farmer’s Market in the summer of 2011. The crowd enjoyed the group’s mix of jazz styles with an acoustic bent that was performed with sax, flute and guitar.”
Doug Weiss
Event Coordinator

“James Achilles and Idle Fret performed for a benefit concert of Pioneer United Methodist Church recently. I was impressed with his tasteful arrangements and original jazz compositions.. Their group blended well together and were considerate of the church hall acoustics. Though I usually favor classical music, I thoroughly enjoyed their Jazz . The easy going presentation of Jim at the mic fit right in with the intent of the whole afternoon’s ambience.”
Sue Dings,
Choir Director & Co-producer of Pioneer Presents

Tickets available at the YSRAC Office, at the door, or online at www.yubasutterarts.org/tickets.
