September 30th – October 20th, 2012

Reception: Sunday, September 30, 3 – 6pm
Edgar Allan Poe, America’s master of mystery, the macabre and more, inspired many celebrated artists from his time and onward, including Gauguin, Redon, Manet, Matisse, Magritte, and Motherwell.
Poe will be the author studied and celebrated during Yuba-Sutter’s second participation in The Big Read, a program of the National Endowment for the Arts. To create a visible complement to the program, the Yuba-Sutter Regional Arts Council, which is the grantee and organizer of The Big Read here, is exhibiting local artists’ works inspired by a Poe poem, short story or theme.
An artists’ reception on Sunday, September 30th at 3pm, open to the public, will kick off The Big Read season with readings, refreshments and a first look at the gallery show.
