On Saturday, June 8th Township Valley Farms in Browns Valley. Our hosts, Kim & Martin Pedley gave us a tour of their property surrounded by golden rolling hills freckled by oak trees so artist could choose what agriculture they wanted to capture.

A large pond complete with remnants of trees expertly carved out by a now, deceived beaver. Their “hair” sheep that were being protected by a giant Pyrenees dog. A beautiful flock of hens, one of which laid an egg for us while watching! All of their hens have been held every day of their life and fed only organic grains; you know those eggs taste yummy.

Township Valley Farms delivers truly farm fresh eggs which by the way can be purchased at New Earth Market in Yuba City. Fields of various hops and basils made an awesome back drop for photo shoots and sketches. Look for Township Valley Farm’s Pesto sauce and fresh basil in a few months at New Earth Market. Artist was treated with homemade lemonade (made with lemons grown on the farm) after their artistic adventures in the fields.

Duke Boyd, founder of Hang Ten and the technical director of the film, is flying in from Hawaii in support of Eric Jordan’s documentary film debut, “Paving the Wave, For the Love of Surfing”.

Todd Duda is a Berkeley alum who has been involved in the arts for most of his life. Todd has been a professional drummer for over 35 years and has opened shows for such acts as Willie Nelson, George Strait, Gregg Allman, Elvin Bishop and Blue Oyster Cult, just to name a few. Currently, Todd is a singer/songwriter and a member of the band WeaKness.

Jenn Norpchen holds a degree in Architectural Interior Design with a minor in Fine Arts.  Inspired by her sister’s herb garden years ago, she researched gourd cultivation and became intrigued that, for thousands of years, artists around the world have engraved, carved and dyed gourds.  Her amazing collection of whimsical characters made of gourds will enchant gallery patrons.  Vibrant colors, feathers, primitive folk art and old cartoons make her gourd creations delightfully amusing.

The Theater Gallery is open Wednesday through Friday from 11:00am to 4:00pm and is located at 752 Plumas Street (on the corner just to the south of the Sutter Theater entrance.)

There will be a brief meeting to elect new officers beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the Lee Burrows Arts Center.

At 6:00 p.m. the event moves to the Yuba-Sutter Regional Arts Council Gallery where community leaders with no drawing skills become “citizen artists” and create one-of-a-kind pastel masterpieces to be auctioned off at the end of the night! Sip some wine and snack on sweet treats as you cheer for your favorite artist (and perhaps jeer the others) as you observe their works in progress.

Film maker and surfing historian, Eric Jordan, shares his love of surfing in a film he has directed and produced, which chronicles the history of surfing on the East and West Coast of the United States, Hawaii and Mexico.
Yuba-Sutter Regional Arts Council will be hosting an opening reception on

June 1st at 6:30pm inside the Lee Burrows Art Center. 630 E Street, Marysville, CA 95901.

We will be screening the film in theater. Afterwards there will be surf music, refreshments and wine tasting within our gallery – which will also feature photographs by Eric Jordan and surf paraphernalia.

Closing reception will take place June 29th at 6:30.
