Creative California Communities – Mural Competitions

Call for Artists

Yuba Sutter Arts is seeking artists to create murals in both downtown Yuba City and downtown Marysville as part of its Creative California Communities project. These mural works of art will be formally unveiled at the Cultural Celebration in Yuba City and at the Bok Kai Festival in Marysville respectively in Spring 2015.

The heart of the vision behind Yuba Sutter Arts’ Creative California Communities Project is to use arts to enhance community unity and sense of self to build toward a better future. Through grant funds awarded by the California Arts Council, matching funds from the City of Yuba City, and partnerships with the Sutter Performing Arts Association and the Bok Kai Parade Committee, mural art will be created on the historic Sutter Theater in Downtown Yuba City and an historic building on 1st Street in Downtown Marysville to achieve part of this vision.

Winning mural proposals will receive a $5,400 artist honorarium. Deadline for proposals is December 15, 2014.
